Dear Aunt Bea,
I have a vase that I am told is rookwood. My grandmother had it for nearly 30 years and it has been passed down to me. It has markings on the bottom that look like a backward letter R next to a letter P. The vase itself has an Indian on it with two feathers. It also has three handles. Do you know how old it is and how much it may be worth? Thanks far any information that you can provide. Tina

Tina,
You may have a Rookwood vase that was made sometime in the late 1800's around 1896 to be exact. If the vase is in superior condition and is authentic, it may be worth between $7,500 and $9,500 at auction. I would recommend that you get a professional appraisal from a reputable auction house. Christie's is one such place. You may visit them online at www.christies.com Just click on About Christie's and click on How to Sell. They have locations around the globe and are very helpful. Please be sure to tell them that Aunt Bea sent you from A-Z Collectible Classifieds at www.collectibleclassifieds.com they do not pay us to send people to send their way. I hope this helps.

Dear Aunt Bea,
I have several pieces of furniture that have been passed down in my family for several generations. I've been told that many of them are from the late 1700's to the early to mid 1800's. They are all in excellent shape and I wanted to know how much they are worth so that I can get the proper insurance on them. Can you tell me where I can find someone over the Internet to appraise them? Thanks for your help. Nancy

Nancy,
Antique furniture is very difficult to be appraised over the Internet. Even if you have very good pictures, close examinations are usually made to authenticate the furniture. You may want to visit Christie's online. They will give you an idea of what your item is worth, but I would still recommend getting a professional to examine them up close. You can visit Christie's at www.christies.com You can also locate an appraiser by going to the ASA, The American Society of Appraisers and search for an appraiser near you. There web address is www.appraisers.org I wish you the best in finding the information that you need.
